Nobody likes surprises when it comes to billing. For each grant or project, I typically offer a quote with a brief explanation of the extent of work required via email. That quote is the maximum that I will charge, and clients typically receive lower invoices that originally quoted. I am, however, flexible if a client prefers a different model.

My rate operates on a sliding scale.
I charge $70/HR for organizations with an annual operating budget of $500,000 or less. $75/HR for organizations with a budget over $500,000, and $80/HR for organizations with budgets of over $1,000,000.
For emergency grant writing services (with an impending deadline of less than two weeks), I charge my base sliding scale cost + 50%.
Emergency grant writing services requiring a turnaround of less than two weeks are subject to expedited service rates. Projects due within one week incur a 75% surcharge, and projects due within 48 hours incur a 100% surcharge. Expedited projects require schedule reprioritization and after-hours availability.
So, an organization with a budget of greater than $1,000,000 would pay $120 an hour if a grant was due within two weeks, but less than one week to go.
Short-term grant writing services have a 25% surcharge.
However, because I offer a maximum quote for each project, clients will not have any surprise fees or hidden costs.

I work to support very small nonprofits who are doing grassroots work critical to the communities they serve. Additionally, organizations with higher budgets (and typically, more resources) have grants and programs that are more complex in nature. This price reflects that fact.

I’d love to get to know your organization more, but I typically operate via Zoom as the nature of my work and life takes me around the world.

My main focus is in the Pacific Northwest and in the Puget Sound area. However, I’ve also written for organizations located in Vermont.
I’m physically based in Vancouver, BC, but I often visit Tacoma to see family and the nonprofits that I serve.
